1st Day of School!

Hannah - Pre-K

Sam - 1st Grade

Malvern Pictures

The school recently switched to a daily email instead of a paper at the end of the day - along with that we now get a little peek of them at school which is always fun!
Here are a few from the summer!

Hummingbirds

We were heading out and Sam tells me there is a hummingbird in the garage- I didn't believe him. How would that happen?
He insisted so I got out of the car and looked.

Yep - there he was!
I texted a friend who sent me a link about this very thing. Apparently it happens ALL THE TIME!
If you leave your garage door open the hummingbird sees the red pull tab hanging down
and thinks its food so it flies in. Problem is hummingbirds only fly UP so he wouldn't be getting out the garage w/o my help.  The link told me to use a rake.
The kids thought this was hilarious!  I tried and tried and couldn't get him!  We had to leave. It was HOT that day. I was sure he would be dead when we got back.

Sam made some sugar water for him and we crossed our fingers

When we got back he was still alive and still trying to get out.  I read online that they will usually collapse and die within 2-3 hours but it had been about 4 hours and he was still alive.
He flew over the the bike rack and figured this was my last chance! I grabbed the butterfly net and caught him!

Poor little guy - he flew right into the tree after we moved the netting.  I was so happy he lived!

Or so I thought.

2 days later we were out front and there was a dead hummingbird by the tree =(
Sorry little guy - I tried =(

National Building Museum - The Beach Exhibit

I read about the "Beach" exhibit online and really wanted to go!  Its a traveling exhibit and would be at the National Building Museum in DC until Labor Day.

Mark had plans to head to MD this weekend so we tagged along so we could check out the "Beach"!

Kids loved it right away!  Its deepest part was 3 feet! I got stuck and Mark had to
pull me out -LOL

Sam liked to dive into it

They even had chairs and umbrellas

We went checked out the rest of the museum but there was really only
1 other room upstairs that the kids cared about - building!

While there we went and saw Tami and her new house!
Nathan is working on hair these days so he gave Hannah some rainbow hair.

She loved it and so did I!

August Update

Not much going on around here - we have been busy with swimming and play dates
and just getting stuff done around the house!

Hannah and I must have taken 50 pics - she loved making faces

Sam was not amused

Sam has been throwing seeds into pots and they all grow!
This is watermelon

this is random beans he got from school

silly girl

Hannah thought it was a good idea to color her face

Sam followed suit

Hannah and her boyfriend =0)

Oh and she put stamps all over her hands

We headed across the neighborhood for a walk and to check out the creek

I found a Heart rock - my mom told Sam that you are special if you find one -
so lets run with that and say I'm special =)
