Back to the allergist!

We headed back to St Christopher’s Children’s Hopsital today for Sam’s food challenge with milk.  I was sooo nervous!  The testing took about 90 mins.  They started off giving him about 1cc of cows milk and then waiting 10 mins and would check on him – then they did 5 cc, then waited 10 mins, then they did 20 cc’s, etc  etc etc.  After an hour of no reactions they filled his sippy with about 2 oz of cows milk and then waited 30 mins – he did great – didn’t have any reactions and loved the cows milk!  So, looks like Sam outgrew  his milk allergy and we are free to give him whatever we want.  We head home and I have him taste a piece of a mozzarella cheese stick – he hates it!  The next night I try mac-n-cheese, yep, you guessed it, he hated it!! OMG!  I have been dying to give my kid cheese and he doesn’t even like it!!!!!  Oh well….. at least I don’t need to read ingredients on boxes anymore ;-)

To celebrate we stopped at Chic-Fil-A on the way home and Sam got his first ever Happy meal!!!  Their chicken has milk in it so he couldnt have it before.  He got chicken, fries, and some Hi-C fruit punch - he loved it all!  I dont think he has had that much juice in his entire life - LOL!  The best part of their happy meal is they giev you a "place mat" that is taped down for the food to go on - genious!

Great Burger

I was hungry! I wanted a hamburger – a good one! Not one from a fast food joint! However, I never go to a restaurant and eat alone – never! I also don’t like trying new places - what if the food is horrible??

But I am pregnant and starving and want NEED a hamburger!!! So, I see it - A place called Great Burger - I am just going to throw caution to the wind and walk in, and sit down, and eat my hamburger all alone, in a restaurant I have never been in!
I walk in – its 11:30 on a work day and empty… uh-oh.. bad sign! Whatever, did I mention I was hungry???

I order by burger and fries and wait……

I take a bite of the burger and its PURE HEAVEN!! Omg this burger is delicious!!!! And the fries rock too – so glad I “risked” it =)

Happy 2nd Birthday Sam!!!

Sam woke up at 12:45am this morning – screaming – as if it say “Hey mom and dad, its MY BIRTHDAY come and get me”!!!! Mark brought him in bed with us where he continued to ‘play’ until 5am – boy was that an exhausting night!!! I sent him off to school with a box of popsicles for him and his friends – yeah, I know, he doesn’t know its his bday but I do!

When I picked him up from school I thought it would be fun to take him to the Dollar store and let him pick out a few toys – yeah, what the heck was I thinking???? We walk in and he goes straight for the Halloween candy – he finds Lollipops – he wants lollipops – I have a million lollipops at home – No, Sam you cant have lollipops – a tantrum ensues….. OMG! I try to distract him and get him to go look at toys – I finally pick him up and take him to the toy section and put him down – he runs back to the candy aisle screaming “lollipops, lollipops” - so, I give in and say “fine we can get lollipops” – Oh but wait … he wants one NOW – not later. No, Sam, we cant open them here – after dinner you can have a lollipop. Screaming, I take him back to the toy aisle – I am showing him all kinds of snakes and cars but he wants his lollipops. Ok new plan – Hey Sam, want a balloon?? Sam’s eyes light up “Balloon?” So we set off to get some balloons. I find a few he would like and we head to the register - uh-oh there are lollipops at the register – So I pick up Sam and am trying to hold balloons and some other things I picked up and Sam is hitting me with the balloons (he thinks this is hilarious) and I am trying to move them away – not working so well…… then he sees the lollipops – OMG! Get me out of here!!! There are 3 teenage boys in front of me watching in horror – hahaha – I wanted to say ‘hey, guys make sure you have safe sex or you will get one of these” LOL! I grab lollipops and try to keep the peace for the last 2 mins while I am trying to pay…… I finally get Sam in the car and we head home….. never again….. oy!

Mark got home around 5pm and we had dinner and the did presents – he loved opening them – we really didn’t get any good pics though =( After that we gave him a treat – since he is still milk-free I passed on the cake (they are gross) and gave him an oatmeal cookie and marshmallows and some chocolate frosting (Pillsbury’s whipped frosting is made with soy). We put 2 candles in and he actually blew them out! I couldn’t believe it – so after he blew them out another 5 times he went for that oatmeal cookie….until…. I had him taste the frosting – then it was instant love! He gobbled that frosting up and asked for more “chocolate” – too cute!

After that we played with his new Thomas Train set and then headed to bed.

Happy birthday Sam – you are growing up so fast! We love you!

Myrtle Beach Trip Sept 2010

Me, Sam , and my mom heading to Myrtle Beach on Saturday 11 September – we left at 9am and stopped once for gas and once for lunch and arrived at 5pm – 8 hours wasn’t bad at all and Sam did great in the car!!

Mark and I have a timeshare at Ocean Watch – this year it is finally complete and a fully functioning resort – it’s beautiful!!! Big pools, baby pools, zero entry pool, pool bars, heated pools and hot tubs, awesome children’s activity center, super cool tree house, oh I could go on and on – I love this place!!!!

Sunday was beautiful – cloudy but warm – didn’t even need the umbrella at the beach! Sam instantly loved the ocean, sand, and the pools! What a joy it was to watch the excitement on his face when a wave splashed over him – even when he got a mouthful of salt water (yuck) he went back for another wave with a huge smile! We took a break at lunch time and went to the activity center for some finger painting! Sam had a blast and moved on to coloring and then outside to play before we headed back to the room for lunch!

I won’t go into daily details as that might be too boring – haha – but we pretty much started each day with beach time, then pool time, then lunch and nap, then dinner and evening activity. One night we did roasted marshmallows by the campfire, a few nights of shopping, and other nights just walked around the resort enjoying the weather.

Sam loved to chase the sand pipers and seagulls – he loved taking hour long walks with my mom (no stroller for him! Haha) – he loved splashing in the water and making new friends!

Oh and I had a first while there! I learned to change a wet diaper standing up around 12 months when he was very squirmy and wouldn’t lay still but while at the beach I had to change a pooopy diaper standing up! Ugh! We were grabbing a bite to eat and the bathroom didn’t have a change table so I just had him stand there – haha – what a site as you can imagine – he didn’t care but it was quite a memory for me! One that I hope I don’t have to ever do again!

There was a hose on the boardwalk that lead back to the room and Sam loved that hose – so much that he sat there one day with my mom for about 30 mins and when people would walk by with sandy feet he would tell them “dirty” and then rinse off their feet – what a hoot!

Here are a few more of my fav pics from the week – its hard to just pic a few!!!

We tried to take those "professional pics" that everyone does at the beach - but boy was it WINDY!!!!
