Weekend Happenings

It was a great weekend!  We had Zac and Josh this weekend and Monday was Memorial day so we all had the day off =)  Josh was at Hershey Park on Friday and won a huge teddy bear!!  Sam loved him!

We had a few wildlife encounters as well.  Saturday morning we saw a deer in the creek - just walking along - Sam kept saying "nice, nice".  Then we had a visit from the wood ducks.  Sunday we found a rather large snapping turtle in our yard - yikes!

I took Sam to the base for some water play on Saturday - he loved it!  We didnt go in the pool but stayed on the water play side with the big splashing buckets of water and mushroom water falls - no pics though since it was just me and him and I was wet too =(

Sunday Mark began building the tree house but I will write on that in a separate post-

Monday we headed to our neighbors house for a cook out and Sam went swimming in their pool - he loved it!!!

I worked on a small project myself this weekend - every year we have an Ornament Exchange and its my job to pick out a different ornament for us to make.  I wanted to see how easy this would be and it was very easy but long.... what do you think Jen?  Should we make these???

A co-worker is retiring and today is her luncheon - I wanted to make her a funny gift - I saw this idea online and I made it last night - I know she will get a kick out of it!

In case you cant see it - it reads:

Weekend Happenings

We had a great weekend!  My mom came up from MD and Sam had fun taking walks and playing with her!  Saturday night we even broke out the smores!  Sam tasted his first one (minus the chocolate) and as you can see he loved it!

Then he decided he just wanted a marshmallow and proceeded to jam the WHOLE thing in his mouth! Oy!

See I told you it would fit!!!

Grandma always makes me laugh =)

No weekend is complete w/o playing in the mud!

Remember this chair? Yeah, well Sam thinks its his.....lol

Sam loved it when Daddy spinned him around in the laundry basket!

And no weekend would be complete w/o a project!!!  We got this box with some champagne in it from our mortgage gal at closing - the box was nice so I held onto it - I forgot to take a "before" of the empty box but the bottom was pretty much plain green.  I lined the bottom in white paper and painted it blue.

This is the top "before"

On the inside I used Sam's art work and made a collage =)

On the top outside I lined it with paper and then covered it in modge podge to give it a nice finish.

Then I sealed the sides too!  Loved howit turned out!  I plan on using this as his "Daycare Days" box.

Saturday Josh's flag football team played in the championship and they WON!!! yay!!! Way to go Josh!

Its Sunday - which means time for produce! This week I got strawberries, radishes, swiss chard (tasted like spinach), lettuce, romaine, spinach, and basil - yum!

My little Linus

Sam has recently become attached to his blanket - I am not thrilled about it but whatever - He is usually really good about leaving it in the car (doesnt take it to school) but last night when we got home he would not let it go - I didnt feel like fighting (I have already learned to pick my battles!) and let him have it - he then proceeded to drag it behind collecting lots of dirt and rocks - lovely.........

Community Supported Agriculture

We joined a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm this year and we got our first batch of fresh, organically grown fruits and veggies Sunday. Every week thru October we will get an assortment from the farm. Our first crop contained spinach, lettuce, cilantro, radishes, onions, and strawberries. Yummy! I am really hoping this will lead us to eating better!

Weekend happenings

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Friday after work I started to work on a reuse project =)  I got this from a great place called Mom's Garden and it was FREE!!  You cant beat that. As you can see it has been sitting around for a long time just rusting away, not being taken care of.... boo- hoo

So I brought it home and added some love and we got this beauty - it looks quite nice in the back yard

Then after Sam went to bed I decided to try to re-make a shirt - I saw the tutorial online and you basically use a shirt that is 1 size too big (I had some large Old Navy tops I wore when I was pregnant) and then you cut and tie over and over - it hard to tell from the pics but it turned out cute!

Saturday while Sam napped I tackled the kitchen mail - this is where all the mail goes and it drives me batty!!!  I like clean counters!

So I moved the tissues to the living room and cleaned off the shelves.  Next, I had this box sitting around that had some of Sam's books in them - a nice sturdy box! Perfect for mail!

I had some paper of old maps and thought it would be perfect since the mail comes from all over the world.... I used some modge podge and glued that sucker on and added some letters to spell out "Mail" and we get this:

And now its all nice and neat =)

We also broke out the water table and Sam had a blast with that!

Sunday was Mothers Day  - I woke up and made these yummy pop-up pancakes

dont they look delicious???

Sam enjoyed them too!

It was a pretty chilly day so we hung out inside mostly - I tried to snag a few pics with Sam - he doesnt look too happy here does he? hahahah

At least I got a smile here!  This photo was really blurry so I made it yellow to hide it - heehee
