Hannah - 18 months

Hannah just had her 18 month well visit (at 19 months!) and she is up to 21lbs (yep, the oldest and smallest in her class!)
She is doing great with every thing except for talking.  She has 5 words and the ped wants her to have 20.  uh-oh....
At 17 months Sam had over 50 words so I knew she was behind but I was trying not to worry about it since I know all kids develop at different rates.  Mark took her to her appt and he said the ped said its best to nip these things in the bud as early as possible, otherwise time will fly and she will be 3 years old mumbling words that no one understands...we do not want that!  So we have 2 months to get her to 20 words and if not she will get evaluated for Speech Therapy.  Kinda scary but at the same time I want the best for my child and if she needs speech therapy then by all means she will get it!
I spoke with the director at her school and they are going to help encourage her to talk more too - even do a little one-on-on time with her (I love her school!!!).  She has said a few other words here and there but since they arent consistent ... they dont count.

So.... 2 months to go....15 words....can we do it?
...to be continued...

Sam's Journal

We had back to school night at Malvern and I got to sit down with his teacher an go over his daily schedule.  I also got to see his journal where he practices his letters everyday.  The teacher suggested we have a journal at home too so I went out and got one for us.

I let Sam pick out the colors and then had him rip the paper and we glued it on. After that he got to put stickers on it.

This is the 1st page - I had him write
"My name is Sam.  I am 4"

Then I realized it was 9pm....yikes!  And he had to go to bed.

He loves his journal.  Tonight we did a page of sorting stickers and then he wanted to draw a rainbow - oh and I had him write his name 4 times for practice.
I think this will be a neat keepsake and fun for Sam while he learns to write!

Tomorrow I am going to have him write the whole alphabet....we'll see how that goes =0)

Happy Birthday to me!

I turned 37 today....yikes.... way to close to 40 - haha!

After work I picked up the kids and headed home - mark had dinner waiting for us along with a cake.

Sam counted out 37 candles

whoa!  Thats a lot of candles!

Thes best present.... Target gift cards from my hubby!

Hannh loved the cake!

I wanted a nice pic of me and Sam but this is what I got....

ok... I can play that game to!

Girls Weekend/Guys Weekend and the ickies

Last month we had planned out that this weekend Mark would take Sam to the Penn State game and Hannah I would stay home and have a "girls weekend".  I was super excited to spend some alone time with Hannah and I knew Sam would have a blast with Mark.  But things never turn out like you expect ....do they?

I got a call from Malvern at 9:30am on Thursday. There were several cases of Hand Foot and Mouth going around and they they saw some sores in Hannah's mouth....ugh!  So I pick her up and head home. She is super happy girl, eats lunch, we play outside, she naps.  Why did I pick her up??
Then comes Friday.... and the fever hits.  She is NOT a happy girl anymore. In fact she is screaming most of the time.  She didnt want to be held.... she didnt want to be put down... she wanted to eat but couldnt....
We had moments of happiness though - when we were outside in the swing

or helping me pick up leaves
or trying on her halloween costume

But the weekend pretty much sucked..... she was on tylenol and motrin and would only eat popsicles

She had to be 100% asleep before I could put her in the crib and then she woke every 1-2 hours.
I have never felt so helpless.... She was in pain and there wasnt much I could do for her. Its a virus and needs to run its course. Ped told me 5 days till she will be better.  and yep the following Tuesday she finally went back to school and a week later we are still trying to get her to go to sleep on her own once again.
sigh....

As for Mark and Sam..... they had a blast!  Mark said he was really well behaved and listened....must be nice!  =)

Sam slept the 2nd half of the game -haha
