Sam and I had fun playing in the backyard - I even took my turn on the swing =) haha
Sam also loved playing in the sand box.

Weekend happenings

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Friday after work I started to work on a reuse project =)  I got this from a great place called Mom's Garden and it was FREE!!  You cant beat that. As you can see it has been sitting around for a long time just rusting away, not being taken care of.... boo- hoo

So I brought it home and added some love and we got this beauty - it looks quite nice in the back yard

Then after Sam went to bed I decided to try to re-make a shirt - I saw the tutorial online and you basically use a shirt that is 1 size too big (I had some large Old Navy tops I wore when I was pregnant) and then you cut and tie over and over - it hard to tell from the pics but it turned out cute!

Saturday while Sam napped I tackled the kitchen mail - this is where all the mail goes and it drives me batty!!!  I like clean counters!

So I moved the tissues to the living room and cleaned off the shelves.  Next, I had this box sitting around that had some of Sam's books in them - a nice sturdy box! Perfect for mail!

I had some paper of old maps and thought it would be perfect since the mail comes from all over the world.... I used some modge podge and glued that sucker on and added some letters to spell out "Mail" and we get this:

And now its all nice and neat =)

We also broke out the water table and Sam had a blast with that!

Sunday was Mothers Day  - I woke up and made these yummy pop-up pancakes

dont they look delicious???

Sam enjoyed them too!

It was a pretty chilly day so we hung out inside mostly - I tried to snag a few pics with Sam - he doesnt look too happy here does he? hahahah

At least I got a smile here!  This photo was really blurry so I made it yellow to hide it - heehee

Because I love you!

I am sharing a freebie with you!!  yay!!  Just go here and fill out your name and email.... yes J, you MUST give away your precious email - LOL - anyway then you can get a FREE bag of Snikiddy Snacks!  I grabbed some last time the offer came around at BRU but they had milk in them - so none for Sam but Mark apparently loved them as he ate the whole bag!

I am not the parent I thought I would be

I always pictured myself as having this very clean child – no runny nose – no dirty hands – clean clothes

Then Sam came along.

He is ALL BOY! He loves the mud and water and mulch and bugs and dirt and everything messy! His nose runs constantly – I try to keep up with it but its impossible! Last night we had some mud puddles by the shed and Sam was dropping rocks in the water while saying “splash” and if the splash wasn’t big enough he would pick it up and drop it again. My first instinct was “Sam! Get out of the mud – look at your clothes – ugh!” But then I thought you know what? He is having so much fun and he is a child! Let him be one! So I gave him more rocks to splash and then gave him a bucket of water to make more mud (which he did) then in all his muddy glory he wanted me to hold him….. and I did! My clothes can be washed but the day will never be re-lived. I want Sam to look back and remember what a great childhood he had – with the mud and water and bugs – so that is what I am going to let him have. Have fun Sammy! Make mommy a mud pie =)

Teacher Appreciation Week

Its teacher appreciation week and I wanted to do something fun for Sam's teachers - I found a bunch of cute little ideas on the internet and came up with 1 gift per day - here they are:

You've got the "write" stuff Miss Jen!

Thanks for making Sam a "smartie" pants Miss Jen!

Miss Jen, You were "mint" to be a teacher!

I'm nuts about you Miss Jen!

The last one is a tiny vase with a single flower - obviously its not made up yet or the flower would die - but they will say  "Thanks for helping Sam "bloom" Miss Jen!"
