Easy babe or experienced mama?
I had a tough time with Sam when he was a newborn - he cried alot - he nursed 24/7 from day 1 on both breasts - my boobs hurt and were cracked and bleeding which led to 5 weeks of a nipple shield - I was stressed, cried everyday and life sucked (hey, just being honest here).
Then, Hannah comes along. She is a dream compared to Sam! She sleeps well, eats one side at a time and only cries when she is hungry. I feel relaxed. My c/s recovery has even been much easier - I was told it would be worse since I had my tubes tied but nope, easier! I was only on pain meds for 5 days this time vs. 2 weeks with Sam.
So, is it easier because Hannah is an "easy" baby or because I am a more experienced mom? I would like to think its probably a little of both but more so Hannah. If Sam had been an easy baby I might of had 5 more kids (joking!).
I think I paid my dues with Sam and God gave me a break this time... thanks God! I owe you one!

Hannah's first bath
The umbilical cord finally fell off so we gave her a bath - it was a very quick one as she wasnt too thrilled about it but afterwards she took a nice long nap =)

Sam and Hannah
Sam sometimes likes Hannah and other times he just wants to be LIKE her - hahha - here are 2 examples - he uses her pacifiers (which she wont even take)
and he likes to get in the moses basket where she sleeps when downstairs
But at the end of the day he really does love his new little sister

2 week well visit
I took Hannah to her 2 week well visit today and she is past her birth weight! OMG how wonderful is that! We really struggled with Sam those early weeks and it took him 6 weeks till he was back at birth weight - so for Hannah to hit it at 2 weeks gave me a huge sigh of relief!
She is doing so great and we are so blessed!

Four Ounces
We took Hannah to the ped today - we were hoping for a 2 oz weight gain since Sunday - she was up to 6lbs 15oz - which meant she gained FOUR OUNCES in TWO days! Yay!!! The ped was very happy with this and told me to just keep doing what I was doing - haha - she should have no problem reaching her birth weight by 2 weeks =)

Coming Home
We were planning on coming home on Saturday but with Hannah's jaundice and weight loss we stayed one extra day. After seeing her jaundice levels stay the same and her weight increase we got the ok to leave. Here she is in her coming home outfit - I thought it was appropriate to do owls since that is what the nursery will be done in
And of course Big Brother Sam came to take her home =)

Liquid Gold
Hannah lost 9.4% of her birth weight - Sam did the same thing.... of course I thought "oh no! Not this again!" We met with the lactation consultant and she got me pumping after each feed and to avoid bottles this early in the game we had Mark finger feed her - here is the colostrum that I pumped the first time - I got ALOT - also known as "Liquid Gold"
Mark attched the feeding tube to his pinky and Hannah would suck it down!
We did this 3 times and the next day they weighed her and she had gained 1oz - thank goodness she hadnt lost anymore! I assumed it was the supplemental feedings but the pediatrician said we would of had to supplement at least 8 feeds to see a weight gain so that means she did it on her own - YAY! and no more pumping was needed.

Sam meets Hannah
My mom brought Sam to the hospital today to meet his new sister - he was a little unsure of her at first
Then Daddy brought her a little closer
He decided to chech her out
Oh look - she's real! =)
She has tiny hands
Look at all her hair!
Why is she crying?
She's ok..... I'll give her a kiss!
And a great big super Sam hug!
Another kiss for my lil sis
Ok. we can take her home =)
